Vanilla Buttercream

Yield: ~6 cups

Vanilla Buttercream


  • 4 sticks (2 cups) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ~1 pound icing sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, room temperature


  • Beat butter until light and fluffy. Slowly add about 1/2 of the icing sugar and beat until well blended. Beat in vanilla. With the mixer on low, slowly add the milk. Once combined, slowly add the rest of the icing sugar until desired consistency is reached.
