I made this cranberry vodka a couple of years ago for Christmas, and it turned out great… so I decided to make it again this year! I originally got the idea from this recipe by Martha Stewart.
First, I cut the peel from an orange (in long strips) and removed the pith. Then, over medium heat, cook 2 cups of fresh cranberries, ½ cup sugar, and ¼ of water until just boiling (you want most of the berries to remain whole). Divide the cranberry sauce mixture between sterilized bottles (I used 16 150-200mL bottles) and add a strip of orange peel to each. Fill each bottle with vodka, and cork / cover.
After sitting for about a month, it’s perfect to drink! Makes a deadly cosmopolitan : )
